In September 2019, a salvage excavation was conducted near the seashore in the northern part of Ashqelon (Permit No. A-8595; map ref. 158843–921/622203–70; Fig. 1). The excavation, conducted on behalf of the Israel Antiquities Authority and funded by the Ashqelon Municipality, was directed by D. Eisenberg-Degen (field photography), with the assistance of Y.
