In January 2023, a small trial excavation was conducted in a vaulted hall on 8 David Street in the Muristan compound, located between the Armenian and the Christian Quarters in the Old City of Jerusalem (Permit No. A-9512; map ref. 221945–60/631570–89; Fig. 1) prior to renovation work. The excavation, undertaken on behalf of the Israel Antiquities Authority and financed by the property owner, was managed by A. Re’em and R. Atlan, with the assistance of S. Halevi (photography and photogrammetry), V. Essman (surveying and drafting), A. Zakaim (plans), B. Monnickendam-Givon (pottery) and M. Chernin (translation of historical sources).
