This systematic literature review synthesizes research on strategic management practices (SMPs) and their impact on strategic performance, identifying key predictors, mediators, and moderators that shape strategic outcomes. A total of 44 studies were analysed and the findings showed that strategic planning and digitalization emerged as the most frequently examined predictors. Innovation and R&D, behavioural factors, and operational capabilities further underscore the multidimensional nature of strategic success. Government policies and internal strategic processes are the most significant mediators and moderators. Notably, while SMPs remain foundational, contemporary imperatives such as sustainability integration, strategic agility, and digital transformation are underrepresented despite their growing practical relevance. The study also identifies methodological limitations, including a predominance of cross-sectional designs and geographic biases toward emerging economies. We propose a future research agenda emphasizing longitudinal studies, cross-contextual comparisons, and behavioural-strategic integration to advance theoretical and practical understanding.
