The use of fairy tales as educational resources for developing communication skills in school-aged children

A fairy tale is a work of oral folk art that accompanies a child from birth, introducing spiritual heritage of the corresponding ethnic group, teaching customs and traditions, and, finally, presenting the first models of communication in different situations, with different people. The purpose of the article is to describe the most commonly used etiquette formulas in fairy tales, commenting on their importance for the development of coherent speech of schoolchildren; to analyze how oral folk art texts form an understanding of the logic of the development of a communicative situation, teaching how to respond to various communicative barriers. The relevance of the article is determined by the need for close cooperation between philology and pedagogy to create comfortable conditions for students to acquire communicative competence, to teach a deep awareness of the connection between generations, which not only forms a modern person, but also projects the preservation of folk etiquette traditions both in everyday speech and in understanding their meaning and role in the communicative behavior of Ukrainians. Conclusions. A constructed narrative, fictional characters, vivid figurative vocabulary, dynamic development of storyline immerse the reader in various communicative situations, teaching how to speak or act under certain circumstances. A fairy tale also reflects folk etiquette in spoken tradition – it embodies a set of communicative norms, the violation of which must always be justified. While in a state of play – almost reincarnating as the heroes of a fairy tale – a child more easily absorbs the communicative norms of their culture, which has a much stronger educational effect than ordinary instruction
