This article is a comprehensive study of the role of volunteerism in the formation of a harmonious, integrated personality, based on the concept of L.P. Stankevich and an analysis of modern Russian practices. Personality integrity is considered as a dynamic state characterized by the unity of cognitive, emotional, volitional and spiritual-moral spheres, consistency of values and behavior, the ability to self-regulation and meaningful activity. Special attention is paid to the formation of key volunteer competencies - social empathy, communication skills, stress tolerance, organizational abilities - and their role in the formation of integrity. A separate section is devoted to extreme volunteerism as a special space of personal development. Based on the work of volunteers in war zones, disasters, and hospices, a paradoxical pattern is revealed: in conditions of extreme trials, a person either loses his inner integrity or finds it in a new, deeper form. The practical significance of the research lies in identifying effective models of psychological and pedagogical support for volunteers, contributing to their personal growth and preventing emotional burnout. The research materials can be used in the training of volunteers, the development of educational programs, and the creation of support systems for participants in volunteer movements.
