Abstract This work designs a high-quality beam injection source scheme for advanced light sources. The approach is based on externally injected laser wakefield acceleration, utilizing a beam injector developed through a conventional linear accelerator. The effects of space charge and coherent synchrotron radiation are carefully considered. The electron beam is efficiently transmitted and focused into the plasma, achieving optimal matching with the laser wakefield acceleration. Furthermore, using the light source injection system as a specific example, we simulated and optimized electron bunches at 2 GeV and 6 GeV, achieving high beam quality with a charge of 10 pC. The energy spread is significantly reduced to 0.3\% for the 2 GeV bunch and 0.5\% for the 6 GeV bunch, respectively. The results of this scheme demonstrate its ability to fully meet the beam quality requirements, potentially providing a reliable injection source with high beam quality for synchrotron radiation light sources.
