The article discusses the problem of forming a healthy lifestyle in middle school students in the process of physical education. It was found that 16.7% of pupils of middle school age lead a healthy lifestyle, 13.4% lead an unhealthy lifestyle, 19.0% lead a lifestyle that is more healthy than unhealthy, 22.2% lead a lifestyle that is more unhealthy than healthy, and 28.7% of adolescents were unable to decide. The lifestyle of students is negatively affected by excessive use of gadgets (41.2%), bad habits (31.9%), insufficient sleep (26.9%), and stressful situations (23.6%). Schoolchildren believe that a healthy lifestyle depends most on factors such as: giving up bad habits (35.7%), a balanced diet (28.7%), absence of disease (22.2%), and sufficient level of motor activity (21.3%). Recommendations were developed for students on various components of a healthy lifestyle, with an emphasis on optimal motor mode. The use of fitness trackers, mobile applications, and keeping a “health diary” was also recommended to promote self-control and responsibility for one's own motor mode. Recommendations have also been developed for physical education teachers, namely: to create positive motivation for students to engage in physical education by using game and competitive forms of physical education, take into account the individual characteristics and level of physical fitness of students, ensuring variety in classes by combining traditional and modern methodologies, using modern technologies in physical education for schoolchildren, develop sustainable habits for daily motor activity, involving students in the organization of sporting events, and cooperating with parents. Attention is emphasized on a comprehensive approach to fostering a healthy lifestyle, which includes cooperation between schools, families, and the social environment.
