The global retail sector is undergoing a significant digital transformation fueled by the widespread adoption of e-commerce technologies. As consumer preferences evolve and digital literacy increases, retailers are compelled to integrate online platforms into their traditional operations. This paper examines the strategic approaches that businesses are employing to transition successfully into the digital marketplace. It explores the role of advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence, cloud computing, big data analytics, and mobile commerce in reshaping the retail experience. While large corporations have embraced these tools aggressively, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are increasingly adopting hybrid models to balance physical and digital retail environments. This study further investigates the impact of customer-centric strategies, such as personalized recommendations and real-time inventory updates, on customer satisfaction and retention. Omnichannel retailing, a prominent trend, has allowed for seamless integration across physical and digital touchpoints, improving convenience and customer engagement. However, the transformation journey is not without challenges. Issues such as cybersecurity threats, legacy system integration, workforce reskilling, and capital investment remain significant barriers for many retailers. This research also presents a practical questionnaire analysis to understand consumer behavior and expectations in the digital shopping space. Through a case study of a mid-sized retail chain, we highlight how strategic planning, continuous innovation, and technology adoption have enabled sustainable digital transformation. The conclusion reinforces the necessity of a long-term, agile approach that aligns technological capabilities with customer needs and market trends. As retail continues to evolve, the ability to harness digital tools while preserving brand value and trust will define future success.
