This paper examined the place of innovative technology in theadministration of healthcare services in tertiary healthcareinstitutions in Nigeria. The specific objectives were to: assessthe current state of technology adoption in healthcareadministration in Nigerian tertiary healthcare institutions,evaluate the impact of innovative technologies on healthcareservice delivery and patient outcomes and propose strategiesand policy recommendations for enhancing technology-drivenhealthcare administration. The study employed a descriptiveresearch design where content analysis was utilized. Theepicenter of the research was the University of NigeriaTeaching Hospital (UNTH), Enugu. Findings revealed thatwhile electronic health records (EHRs), telemedicine, andmobile health applications have been introduced, theiradoption remains inconsistent due to infrastructural deficitsand inadequate training. The study concludes that innovativetechnologies are vital for improving service delivery andpatient outcomes, but full implementation is hindered byexisting challenges. It is recommended that tertiary healthcareinstitutions enhance staff training, invest in robust digitalinfrastructure, and foster strategic collaborations withtechnology firms to optimize technology use. Addressing thesechallenges will enable Nigerian tertiary healthcare institutionsto leverage technology for more effective healthcare serviceadministration and improved patient care outcomes.
