This study examined the relationship between the variables ofindependent National Electoral Commission and GoodGovernance in Nigeria.. The theoretical foundation was basedon structural-functional theory propounded by Durkheim(1893) which explains how components of the society worktogether to maintain the overall stability, functionality and goodgovernance. The study adopted qualitative research design.Data were collected from secondary sources. Findings revealedamong others that INEC as the Electoral Management Body inits’ operations in conduct of general elections since 1999 hasnot ensured transparency, full participation and adherence torule of law, specially bothering on enforcement of Electorallaws. The implication remains that where there is weakelectoral management body, it would fail to create enablingenvironment that fosters or promotes good governances. Thestudy therefore recommended among others that both INEC, thegovernment, political actors and civil society should continueto work together and redouble efforts to deliver on citizenexpectations for transparent elections in order to ensure thatelectoral outcomes are a credible expression of the will ofvoters and by so doing ensure good governance.
