The article offers a decolonial take on artificial intelligence (AI) as part of the burgeoning research on digital peacebuilding and peacemaking. Based on sociocybernetics and third-order reflexivity approaches, the article argues that the envisioned deployment of AI tools for the purposes of peacebuilding and peacemaking fails to take into account a great number of both the technology's pitfalls as well as the academic field's oversights. The article posits that not only is the changing character of the current international system of peace not taken into account by the burgeoning research, but that, unless and until it is, research on AI's prospects for peacebuilding and peacemaking risk being nothing more than a philosophical exercise.
