The article contains substantiated approaches to improving the design of fire structures used by units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. First of all, this applies to fire structures, which are components of the fortification equipment of positions intended for conducting defensive actions. The opinions of the authors of the article are based on both the results of testing activities and the experience of conducting combat (special) troops (forces) during the Russian-Ukrainian war. The proposals of the authors of the article are aimed at improving the protective functions of fire structures, preserving their load-bearing capacity, ensuring integrity, observing ergonomic aspects and ensuring other safe and proper conditions for military personnel inside the structures. The proposals are focused on ensuring appropriate conditions for the personnel to stay, conducting combat and special tasks. Such main tasks are observation and fire. The proposals provided for improving the design of fire structures are aimed at the ability to withstand various military factors. Such factors include damage from small arms cartridges, fragments of grenades, shells and mines, cumulative grenades of hand-held anti-tank grenade launchers, the destructive effect of excess pressure of air impact, impact action that spreads through the soil as a result of the explosion of ammunition after immersion in the ground. The authors of the article propose to increase the load-bearing capacity and preserve the protective functions of structures by increasing and supplementing structural elements, as well as using new materials. It is expected that the approaches proposed in the article can help developers and manufacturers of fire structures in the manufacture of such structures that would meet the challenges of today and take into account the trends in the increase of means of destruction of the Russian Federation. Thus, this will allow to increase the systems of defensive lines, positions, and areas by building the appropriate lines of defense of the state.
