Abstract Specific gravity and fiber length have been measured in each annual ring at breast height on a hybrid poplar to illustrate the influence of extremely fast rates of growth. The P.x euramericana (Dode) Guinier cv. "I-214" had grown 1.02 inches in wood radius annually for six years after planting.
