The subject matter of each topic is referenced in a scattered manner across various Samhitas, requiring considerable effort to search for details on a specific topic. Some medicinal herbal drugs mentioned in the Ayurveda Samhitas play a significant role in daily life, serving both as food and medicine. The Harita Samhita, written by Acharya Harita between the 6th and 7th centuries AD, is presented in a discussion format between the Author and Atreya Punarvasu. In this text, Acharya Harita introduces his new concepts. The scripture is divided into six sections: Prathamasthana, Dwitiyasthana, Chikitsasthana, Sutrasthana, Kalpasthana, and Sharirasthana. In the Kalpasthana section of the Harita Samhita, five chapters are dedicated to discussing various essential drugs used in different dosage forms, according to the diseases they treat. This review aims to shed light on the Kalpasthana of Harita Samhita, explicitly focusing on Guggulu (Commiphora mukul), its medicinal properties, and its uses in treating various disease conditions.
