Feminist translation has a long tradition, and the perspective of transnational feminist translation studies offers new insights into contemporary notions of gender, enabling a critical reassessment of translation practices. In this piece, I will discuss the translation practices and strategies I employed in my Spanish version, published in 2021, of Notes from a Feminist Killjoy: Essays on Everyday Life by Canadian writer Wunker (2016). To this end, I will consider both textual and paratextual elements in the translated work. Viewing translation as a form of political, ideological, and ethical activism that can reinforce or challenge power hierarchies, I will consider how theoretical reflection on the translation of Notes from a Feminist Killjoy can serve as an effective strategy for subverting oppressive structures.
