Abstract As one of the coastal cities on the island of Java, Semarang is one of the cities that continues to face flooding, especially tidal flooding in the lower Semarang area. Given Semarang’s status as the capital city of Central Java province, where many business and activity centers take place, it is important for Semarang to become a safe coastal area by dealing with flooding. This study reviews various literature published over a period of 20 years regarding flooding in Semarang. The literature used is filtered from search results on publication databases from four major indexers, namely Scopus, Web of Science, Google Scholar, and Semantic Scholar. PRISMA is used to conduct a review and then uses text analysis to explore aspects of mitigation and involvement in the use of information technology in dealing with flooding in Semarang in the selected literature. The analysis was conducted to gain a broader view of efforts to overcome flooding in Semarang. By looking at the effectiveness and projection of solutions offered in the future from various literature, it is expected to be able to provide ideas and further directions in efforts to overcome flooding in Semarang, especially in the use of information technology.
