The article examines contemporary theoretical, methodological, and applied aspects of startup entrepreneurship as one of the main drivers of economic growth in Ukraine's transitional economy. The significance of the startup ecosystem for the formation of a competitive business environment capable of ensuring technological breakthroughs and sustainable recovery of the country in the post-war period is investigated. Methods for evaluating the effectiveness of startup ecosystems are systematised, in particular through comparative index assessment, which allows national ecosystems to be compared on the basis of objective and subjective indicators. The feasibility of using such indices as tools for strategic management, monitoring and forecasting innovative development is substantiated. Based on the analysis of global ratings such as the Global Startup Ecosystem Index, Global Innovation Index and GSER from Startup Genome, the dynamics of Ukraine's position in the global startup landscape has been analysed. The research confirms the unique features of the Ukrainian startup ecosystem, which, in the context of full-scale war, demonstrates adaptability, flexibility, and a desire for innovation. The challenges faced by Ukrainian entrepreneurs are examined: an imperfect regulatory environment, geopolitical risks, and insufficient financial infrastructure. At the same time, the growing role of the Ukrainian Startup Fund, joining European innovation networks, and attracting international funding are highlighted. The study proves the strategic importance of institutional development of the startup ecosystem for Ukraine's sustainable economic growth and its integration into the global innovation environment.
