The document focuses on welding in the oil and gas industry and covers sections on General Welding Requirements, Welding Processes, Welding Consumables, Shielding and Purging Gases, Preheating and Interpass Temperature, Post-weld Heat Treatment (PWHT), Cleaning and Surface Preparation, Special Procedure Qualification Requirements/Testing. Fourth Edition is major revision and included several new annexes for Duplex Stainless Steel, High Temperature Heat-resistant alloys, P91 (9Cr-1Mo-V) and Controlled deposition welding. For upcoming fifth edition, plan is to add new annexes; Non-Backing Gas Welding, In-service welding, selective adoption of JIP 33 S-705 overlay requirements, Low alloy (Cr-Mo) Steel, Ni-based alloys, Ti-based alloys, Al-based alloys, Zr-based alloys, Martensitic Stainless Steel, pH Stainless Steel, Tube-Skin Thermocouple welding, Hard facing, Carbon Steel, Bake-out requirements and selective adoption of new Duplex Stainless steel new non mandatory appendix ASME Sec.
