The theses present experimental results and a theoretical-applied analysis of using a frequency converter with a built-in PID controller as a factor for improving the energy efficiency of pump units in hydro-accumulation systems. It is shown that the integration of frequency control with a “sleep mode” forms a new control model based on smooth flow modulation and adaptive pressure maintenance, which minimizes the number of start-stop cycles and extends the equipment’s service life.
