The article theoretically substantiates the issue of building gsenior preschool children’s artistic and creative competence by means of artistic and productive activity. The study presents the essence of the basic concepts of "aesthetic education", "competence", "artistic and creativecompetence", and "artistic and productive activity". The author defines the main types of artistic and productive activity, such as drawing, modelling, design and appliqué. It also highlights the main tasks of artistic and productive activity. It is determined the directions of further scientificresearch, which consist of studying the foreign experience of building senior preschool children’s artistic and creative competence by means of artistic and productive activity, and the ways of its implementation in the educational process in Ukrainian preschool education institutions.
