The article outlines the modern problems of the quality of primary education, the formation of communicative and speech skills as a component of the key communicative competence of students. The positive social motivation of the speech process is considered as a need for the implementation of a certain speech action, since the speech of younger schoolchildren should necessarily be combined with their activities, reflect the real picture of interaction with the environment. The orientation of the linguistic and literary educational sphere to ensuring that students are aware, first of all, of the communicative function of language. The article indicates the main factors influencing the imagery, coloring, brightness and emotionality of students, which are mostly at medium and low levels, and the indicator of assimilation of theoretical knowledge is higher than the indicator of practical skills.
