The article is devoted to the urgent modern problem of the stony agrolandscapes of one of the leading agricultural regions of Russia – the Stavropol Territory. The article presents the results of monitoring studies over a period of more than twenty years, analyzes the change in the area of rocky lands in the context of all municipal districts and in the region as a whole, and also examines the main causes of this type of deterioration of agricultural landscapes. The problem of stony agrolandscapes is especially relevant for the districts located on the Stavropol upland and in the foothills of the Caucasus. Reducing the area of rocky lands is possible only by agrotechnological methods and physical removal of stones.
