OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the hamstrings: quadriceps (H:Q) ratio of the knee of young adults, measured by localized muscular resistance (LMR) with elastic bands, and its relationship with functional performance, muscle activation, postural balance, and plantar pressure. DESIGN: Cross-sectional observational study. METHODS: Thirty-five participants were analyzed. The initial data collection consisted of performing the knee flexion-extension LMR test and evaluated by an application called LMR, based on isokinetic data and developed by our research group. Associated tests were performed: hop tests, EMGs, and baropodometry. RESULTS: The findings show greater LMR for the extension movement, revealing the presence of muscle imbalance of 24.03% and 26.83% in the right and left limbs. The single hop test of the right (r = 0.344; p = 0.043) and left (r = 0.343; r = 0.044) limbs correlated with the H:Q ratio; the EMG of the left rectus femoris (r = 0.362; p = 0.033), with the left H:Q ratio; the mass distribution with blindfolded eyes, negatively anterior (r = −0.342; p = 0.045) and posterior (r = 0.345; p = 0.042) CONCLUSION: The findings are consistent that the H:Q ratio measured by LMR correlates with functional performance by the single hop test, the muscular activation of the rectus femoris and the anterior and posterior body mass distribution.
