HS2 is Great Britain’s new high-speed railway. The 90km Midlands section of HS2 is being delivered by an Integrated Project Team and includes the Precast Segmental Viaducts in the Delta Junction area of the project. Spanning a combined 6,6km, with 9 viaducts designed to support high-speed rail, the Precast Segmental Viaducts comprise of both single track and double track post-tensioned concrete box girders which will carry the HS2 high-speed lines throughout the route’s Delta Junction. The viaducts are founded on deep-pile foundations, cast in-situ pile caps and piers. They feature the innovative use of a temporary cable-stayed mast and swivel crane, pioneering in the UK and significantly improving construction efficiency.
