This study aims to identify the uses of cultural programs in the Kurdish satellite channels by university lecturers, as well as to identify the motives and gratifications that they achieve. It is a descriptive study, which used the survey methodology, on an intentional sample of (192) lecturers from Sulaymaniyah University and Sulaymaniyah Polytechnic University, The study found several results: the majority of members of the sample always watch the cultural programs in the Kurdish satellite channels, and it was found from the study that the percentage of the responses of the academic elites who are exposed to cultural programs of the type “artistic programs” was high ranked first, then programs on "Literature, poetry, and criticism" ranked second, and the “general knowledge” programs ranked third, then “science and technology” programs came in last, This study revealed that cultural programs meet the desires and needs of university lecturers at an average degree, The results show there is a statistical associative relationship between the use of university lecturers as a sample of the study and the motives of their exposure to cultural programs in the Kurdish satellite channels, also the existence of a statistical significant associative relationship between the use of university lecturers as a sample of the study and the satisfaction achieved from their exposure to cultural programs in the Kurdish satellite channels.
