Indonesian language learning in primary schools faces serious challenges, especially in terms of low student interest and engagement. Other problems include limited use of innovative learning media, teacher-centered approaches that reduce opportunities for student creativity, and the monotonous presentation of materials that fail to stimulate literacy development. PowToon, as an animation video creation platform, provides opportunities for teachers to deliver learning materials in more creative and engaging ways. This study examines the effectiveness of using PowToon in Indonesian language learning at the elementary school level. Data from the Google Scholar database shows a consistent increase in the number of publications on this topic between 2019 and 2024. In the last six years, 84 articles have been cited, indicating growing interest in PowToon as a learning tool and its relevance in education. The researchers reviewed nine articles on the use of PowToon in Indonesian language learning in primary schools during 2019–2024. The findings indicate that PowToon can enhance writing skills, literacy, storytelling, and poetry writing abilities. The results also show that the application of PowToon benefits both teachers and students by creating a more interactive and enjoyable learning experience. Several studies reported significant improvements in students’ literacy and storytelling skills after the integration of PowToon into classroom practice. Overall, the use of PowToon in Indonesian language learning provides meaningful benefits and has the potential to become an effective tool to improve the quality of Indonesian language education in primary schools, as well as serve as a foundation for developing more innovative educational technologies.
