With the development of globalization, borrowed vocabulary penetration process is becoming more and more active. Lexical units of Anglo-American origin play a key role in this process. This is due to the dominance of Western countries and their influence in the world. Currently, it is difficult to single out a country which culture was not influenced by Western civilization. Nevertheless, authors suggest that the process of foreign lexical units borrowing, might have less impact on the PRC and the Chinese language due to a number of both linguistic and extralinguistic factors. The article analyzes normative legal documents considering language preservation measures taken by the Chinese government. It examines the structure, semantics, and functioning of words borrowed from English in modern Chinese. During the analysis of news in the fields of international politics and economics presented on the Chinese news portal «Phoenix», the authors have come to conclusion that the Chinese language, despite its closed nature is still influenced by globalization processes as well as the penetration of English-language borrowings.
