The intersection of digital technology and traditional craftsmanship in fashion and textile heritage presents significant challenges and valuable opportunities. As technological advancements accelerate, the tangible cultural expressions embedded in fashion and textile crafts gradually fade, placing indigenous knowledge at risk of marginalisation. Despite the growing role of digitisation in cultural preservation, its impact on safeguarding and revitalising textile heritage remains underexplored. This research project seeks to address this gap by examining the complexities of ‘Crafting a Digital Fashion Heritage: Weaving Narratives and Exploring Digital Technologies in Fashion Heritage Preservation’. Specifically, it investigates the challenges of digitising traditional techniques, evaluates the potential of digital platforms in amplifying and conserving cultural narratives, and explores consumer engagement with digital fashion heritage. Additionally, the study aims to provide practical recommendations for industry stakeholders and cultural institutions while bridging gaps in existing literature at the intersection of technology, fashion and cultural heritage preservation. Through an autobiographical narrative lens and thematic narrative analysis, this research aspires to generate nuanced insights that support the integration of tradition and innovation in safeguarding fashion and textile heritage.
