Manifesto for transformist media scholars

This manifesto invites reflection on the role of media scholars in contemporary society. The text is intentionally poetic and dialogic, presenting a collection of diverse voices rather than a unified academic argument. The manifesto emerged from a workshop titled "The media scholar as (utopic) activist?" held during the SMiD 2024 conference, where participants explored the utopic method to ground their activist impulses. The manifesto comprises seven key statements, each followed by responses from various scholars, creating a dynamic and pluralistic dialogue. The document emphasizes the importance of collective action, diverse perspectives, and the integration of human values in media research. It concludes with a call to action for media scholars to engage in acts of resistance, creation, and solidarity, both large and small.
