Missouri homicide rates rose during the COVID-19 pandemic (2020-2023), spiking in 2022. Data obtained from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention database showed from 2018 to 2023, Black/African American American youth experienced the most firearm-related homicides before and during the pandemic. This study also found demographic differences between youth firearm suicide and homicide rates in Missouri.
