Indralupta , classified under UrdhwajatrugataVyadhi (a disease in the area above the clavicle) in Ayurveda , presents patchy hair loss in areas such as the scalp region and beard and is comparable to Alopecia areata in biomedicine. Alopecia areata is an autoimmune condition characterized by smooth, nonscaring, well-defined patches of hair loss, typically managed with intralesional and topical corticosteroids. As per Acharya Sushruta , Indralupta is occurring as a result of vitiation of Pitta Dosha and Vata Dosha leads hair fall, while aggravated Raktha Dushya and Kapha Dosha block the hair follicle opening and hindering new hair growth. Shodhana (Detoxification) and Raktamokshana (bloodletting) and Rasayana (rejuvenate therapy) are the recommended therapeutic approaches. In this case study, a 32-year-old female was treated with Virechana , Pracchana, and Rasayana therapies. The drug Chakramarda ( Cassia tora ) is used for external application, is the uniqueness of this case because this drug is not much used in the conditions like Alopecia. The treatment led to significant improvement, with notable relief from symptoms. This therapeutic protocol was found to be simple, cost-effective, and highly efficacious.
