This technical note provides a focused clarification and refinement of the concept of Clockability, previously introduced as an operational criterion for the meaningful use of time in physical systems. While earlier work established the necessity of stable and comparable records for temporal ordering, the present note makes explicit a crucial point that was previously implicit: Clockability is not an intrinsic property of events, but a relational property involving events, their traces, and the physical context that preserves, accesses, and compares those traces. By explicitly introducing contextual dependence, this work removes naïve universal or subjectivist interpretations of Clockability and strengthens its compatibility with established physical theories, including General Relativity, without introducing new physics or ontological claims about the nature of time. The notion of context is defined strictly in physical and structural terms—such as memory decay, noise, bandwidth, and record preservation costs—thereby eliminating any reliance on observers, consciousness, or subjective factors. Temporal order is shown to emerge only where such physical contexts support the persistence and comparability of traces. This note serves as a methodological clarification and supporting asset for previously published work on Clockability and operational limits of time, and as a conceptual bridge toward more general foundational frameworks addressing events, compatibility, and temporal structure.
