This research paper investigates the application of Fourier Transform–based filtering techniques for reducing Gaussian noise in astronomical images. It evaluates the performance of Wiener, arithmetic mean, and median filters using quantitative image quality metrics, including MSE, PSNR, SSIM, and NIQE. Experimental results on multiple astronomical images demonstrate that the Wiener filter provides superior noise reduction and image restoration quality, contributing to improved clarity and reliability in astronomical image analysis.
