Fifty-four trenches were opened mechanically under archaeologival supervision and potential archaeological features investigated by hand. By and large the anomalies identified by geophysical survey were confirmed as ditches but apart from one clearly post-medieval, none of these could be dated. A single isolated pit contained middle to late Iron Age pottery and loomweight fragments but also a machine-tooled stone, so it is unclear if it is really a modern pit with residual finds.
