The origin of the Gilmore dry gas deposit is a combination of deep-sourced methane and wet gas associated with oil generation. The deep gas source is characterised by the high nitrogen content co-generated with isotopically heavy methane. Higher nitrogen contents (up to 20 mole%) occur along the eastern margin of the Lissoy Sandstone principal reservoir unit, supporting reservoir compartmentalisation.
