This document is a Section 106 report for the proposed SpaceX Construct Monopoles at SLC-4 and SLC-6 project. Applied EathWorks conducted a cultural resource investigation in support of the proposed Monopole Radio Towers Project at Building 725 in SLC-4 and Building 398 in SLC-6 on south Vandenberg SFB. An assessment of the visual effects within the two 1,000-foot-radius Study Areas indicates that the Project will not introduce any visual elements to the landscape that would adversely affect known historic properties. Surface survey was employed at both Project areas, and subsurface testing was conducted at the latter only. No cultural materials were identified on the surface of either Project area or in the excavated units, and significant soil disturbance was evident in both contexts. Therefore, it is Applied EarthWorks’ recommendation that Project activities are unlikely to encounter buried archaeological deposits during construction. The proposed Project will have no effect on known historic properties and therefore a Section 106 finding of ‘no historic properties affected’ appears appropriate.
