The SCCAS brief required a programme of linear trial trenching to sample the site ahead of for the construction of housing. This was achieved by excavating one trench measuring 25.00m x 1.80m, one trench measuring 15.00m x 1.80m, one trench measuring 10.00m x 1.80m. The site had a high potential for features and finds relating to the Medieval and post Medieval periods. There was a low potential for features or finds from other periods. Despite the high potential, only one archaeological feature was encountered in the form of an undated ditch. This alignment doesn't appear on the cartographic regression and is likely associated with drainage. The evaluation indicates that the area was likely part of the agricultural hinterland surrounding the settlement and was sub-divided into smaller agricultural plots in the late post medieval period as was common at the time. It is also possible that this is related to the courtyarded farm that was present on site at the time.
