The Breathing Universe Model (BUM) is a unified physical framework in which spacetime, mass, energy, time, and information emerge from the dynamics of a single continuous vacuum capable of storing and redistributing tension. Across a substantial body of prior work, the BUM establishes a fixed ontological hierarchy—beginning with pre-structural vacuum asymmetry and culminating in particles, fields, time, and large-scale cosmological structure—without assuming spacetime, matter, or time as fundamental primitives. This Formal Addendum serves as a canonical consolidation and interpretive anchor for the entire Breathing Universe Model corpus. It introduces no new physical assumptions, mechanisms, or speculative entities. Instead, it fulfills four precise functions:(1) it formally defines the scope, status, and developmental stage of the BUM as a hierarchical research program;(2) it fixes the canonical meaning and ontological role of core concepts such as operators, monopole modes, snapping dynamics, vacuum tension, coherence ordering, and emergent time;(3) it clarifies the distinction between conceptually closed elements of the framework and components explicitly under formal, empirical, or computational development; and(4) it establishes a structured roadmap linking the existing conceptual architecture to three dedicated technical pillars: Operator Algebra & Selection Rules, Prediction Ledger & Falsification Protocol, and A Minimal Simulation Framework for the Breathing Universe Model. By stabilizing terminology, preventing category errors, and defining appropriate criteria for evaluation and falsification, this addendum enables coherent external assessment of the BUM as a scientific program. It positions the model for its next phase—explicit mathematical formalization, centralized empirical testing, and computational demonstration—without requiring revision or reinterpretation of the existing body of work.
