Watching Brief at The Sarn, 5 Hopton Castle

Watching brief on groundworks within the site. The archaeological works monitored the excavation of a narrow trench within the garden area to the north of the house. A total depth of 450mm was dug, which revealed a modern topsoil and subsoil deposit. No archaeological features were encountered during the watching brief; a small assemblage of pottery and animal bone were identified from within the topsoil deposit.
