The High Energy Photon Source (HEPS), one of the world’s brightest fourth-generation synchrotron radiation facilities, requires a scientific data storage system capable of managing exabyte-scale datasets, high-concurrency access, and long-term preservation. This paper systematically presents the design logic and technical solutions for HEPS’s three-tier storage architecture (beamline storage, central storage, and tape storage). Additionally, it discusses optimization strategies for the Lustre distributed file system, including high-availability architecture design and cross-platform permission synchronization mechanisms.
