Anticyclonicity variations for the 29-year period (1965–1993) for each season and year are presented for the area centred on eastern Australasia. Maps of those regions, which display long-term variations and quintile patterns for extreme seasons (years) in the study period, are shown and discussed, and related to commensurate variations in rainfall across the Australian continent. Through the presentation of time-series of the anticyclonicity at selected points where significant variations have been observed, the interannual and low-frequency variability of the anticyclonicity across the Australian-New Zealand region is highlighted.
