The Carboniferous to Jurassic units of the Taimyr Peninsula, located at the northern edge of the Siberian Craton in the Russian High Arctic, are integral to the geological history of Pangea and closely linked to the Siberian Traps large igneous province event. This study endeavors to clarify the sedimentary provenance and tectonic evolution of southern Taimyr during the Carboniferous−Jurassic by employing Hf isotope analysis on U-Pb dated detrital zircons. Our results demonstrate that the southwestern Yenisey Ridge and Altai-Sayan Fold Belt were the primary sources of sediment during the Early Permian. Specifically for the Early Permian Byrrangskaya Formation, Late Devonian−Permian zircon grains exhibit negative εHf(t) values (median of −8.1). From the Late Permian onward, the sediment supply appears to have shifted to northern Taimyr and/or the Polar Urals, with an additional component from the Siberian Traps introduced in the Middle Triassic. Additionally, a ca. 195 Ma zircon with a pronounced negative εHf(t) value indicates a potential input from the distant Mongol-Okhotsk Belt in the south or the Verkhoyansk fold belt in the east, suggesting an intricate interplay of regional and distant tectonic forces shaped the southern Taimyr’s sedimentary record. The sedimentary and magmatic records of Taimyr provide valuable insights into the complex interplay between regional tectonics and global processes during the final stages of Pangea’s assembly, its breakup, and the subsequent shifts in Earth’s environmental conditions.
