Research Problem: The political tit-for-tat and the crab political culture exhibited by China and USA have affected the international political system and by extension, their friends and allies. These ding dong affairs not only impacts the core principles of global relations but also have its impact on politics and economy of the global ferment with Africa being the worst hit. Method: This study which is based on desk research has the task of examining the main ideas that govern Chinese and American relations in the world as well as the nature of politics that come into play in these relationships. While the Chinese built their relationships on liberalism (Idealist doctrine) through the soft power approach, American interaction is hinged around acquisition of Power (realism). Results: The study finds that as both countries are trying to outrival one another in the international environment, they expanded their military industrial complexes and extended their economic reach through invasion of every facet of African economy. Conclusion: It concluded that the USA is at a breaking point thus giving China the opportunity to take over global affairs. Key contribution to knowledge: The study took a deep look into the strategic and ideological thoughts of China and USA and how this interests have impacted the international system. Recommendation: It recommended that the United State should tread cautiously while China should avoid direct confrontation with the United States because the latter's military position in world affair is almost unbeatable.
