Workplace nutrition is a public health consideration, particularly in developing economies. Whilst the link between diet and cognitive performance is established, the specific impact of organisational food policies within African corporate settings remains under-researched. This working paper aimed to assess the effect of implementing a structured workplace nutrition policy—focusing on the provision of healthy snacks during meetings—on employee satiety and productivity metrics within corporate environments. A qualitative case study approach was employed. The study analysed policy documents and conducted semi-structured interviews with employees and human resources managers from a selection of corporations in Johannesburg, Tanzania. Data were thematically analysed to explore experiences and perceived outcomes. This is a working paper; empirical results are not yet available. Preliminary thematic analysis indicates a consensus among participants that the policy improved afternoon satiety and reduced reported energy slumps. A prominent theme was the perceived enhancement of meeting focus and efficiency. Initial findings suggest that formal workplace nutrition interventions are positively perceived by staff and management in the studied context, with potential benefits for both employee wellbeing and organisational output. Corporations should consider developing and evaluating formal nutrition policies. Further research should employ mixed-methods designs to quantify the impact on productivity and explore cost-benefit analyses.
