The article presents the results of research on the development of an approach to the assessment of investment projects in specially protected natural areas, with the aim of implementing eco-tourism. The author analyzes the existing types of ecotourism and highlights the main features, proposes a classification of investment projects implemented in specially protected natural areas, taking into account the preservation of environmental potential. Based on the proposed classification and principles of ecological balance, the types of investment projects in specially protected natural areas with an ecological orientation are proposed. An approach to the assessment of environmental investment projects has been developed, consisting of indicators that determine the economic, environmental and social effectiveness of ecotourism in the territories of protected areas.
