This presentation explores how the combined use of ORCID and DataCite helps researchers increase the visibility, trustworthiness, and impact of their research outputs. It explains the different ways information can be added to ORCID records, by researchers themselves and by trusted member organizations, and highlights how authenticated, provenance-rich metadata supports reuse across the research ecosystem. Using practical examples, the session demonstrates how works and funding information can be imported, how persistent identifiers such as ORCID iDs and DOIs are connected, and how these connections create reliable “trust markers” for discovery, attribution, and decision-making. The talk was delivered as part of a Love Data Week 2026 event and is aimed at researchers, librarians, and research support professionals interested in improving research visibility through open infrastructure.
