Archaeological Monitoring and Recording was undertaken by South West Archaeology Ltd. (SWARCH) at the request of a private client, in advance of the excavation of a soak-away associated with the placement of a temporary Mobile Home on land at SX 58744 55018, Lane End, Plympton (Figure 1). This work was undertaken on the 17th March 2025 in accordance with a Written Scheme of Investigation (WSI) drawn up in consultation with the Devon County Historic Environment Team. A 3.6m by 12m area in the location of the proposed drainage was stripped under archaeological supervision by toothless grading bucket. The area was excavated to a depth of c.0.4m. Stratigraphy of a fine soft yellow-brown silt-clay topsoil directly overlying the natural a slightly greyish yellow clay-silt with common to abundant platey shillet. No archaeological features or deposits were present. Three c.2m x 2m and 0.8m deep previously opened drainage test pits flanked the stripped area. These had been left open and were weathered, but each showed the same stratigraphy as the main strip, and no features or finds were visible in these. The only finds recovered from the work were 2x sherds (c.7g) of white refined earthenware, these were discarded on site.
