Fifty-four evaluation trenches were excavated, measuring between 22m and 50m in length and up to 2.2m wide. The trenches were cut within three areas of the proposed development. The archaeological investigations revealed the presence of a small number of linear features, ditches, pits and other features, identified at a shallow depth and mainly concentrated towards the western extent of the development site. The majority of the features remain undated as only a very small datable finds assemblage was recovered. Those finds that were recovered suggest a possible prehistoric presence for at least one feature. The features identified within the western extent of the site suggest possible small-scale settlement, with the focus of the latter perhaps situated further to the west. A post-medieval linear feature and a Second World War anti-tank ditch, along with a series of field drains (present across the site), were also identified.
