The purpose of the watching brief was to identify the presence or absence of archaeological remains affected by the proposed development of the construction of a small holiday apartment. The fieldwork entailed the continuous monitoring of all sub-surface groundwork required to prepare the site for development. This involved staged visits during the key phases, which included clearance, ground reduction, cutting of foundations, inserting utilities/drains, landscaping, and tree planting. The works involved the removal of a brick and timber shed and the excavation of foundation trenches. The archaeological watching brief encountered no archaeological finds, features or palaeo-environmental deposits.
