Livelihood development interventions in Madagascar's high plateaus aim to improve economic performance among smallholder farmers. A review of existing literature and case studies was conducted to assess the effectiveness of livelihood development programmes in Madagascar's high plateaus. The analysis revealed a mixed impact with some regions showing increased crop yields by up to 20% despite challenges such as soil degradation and climate variability. While interventions have contributed positively, further research is needed to tailor strategies more effectively to local conditions. Enhanced focus on sustainable agricultural practices and community-based management approaches are recommended for future implementation. Treatment effect was estimated with logit (pᵢ) =₀+^ Xᵢ, and uncertainty reported using confidence-interval based inference.
